"During the last couple of years, my family has had several occasions to seek housing options for my elderly parents. In the beginning, I had contacted the service advertised on TV by a prior morning talk show hostess. That experience was good, and having nothing to compare it to, I thought that was the standard others would be judged by.
However, I was referred to Senior Care Authority by an employee of a rehab facility where my Mother had briefly been a resident. I had no expectations beyond my prior experience, and I was amazed at the difference between the two services. My initial contact with Senior Care Authority was over the telephone and I gave them a price range to work within and an approximate location. They asked me questions about my parents’ personalities, likes/dislikes and their health issues/concerns. When my sister and I met with them, the presentation made by John Alagood (the owner of the DFW area location) just astonished me. Senior Care Authority monitors the state-reported safety records, care levels and resident satisfaction ratings of the assisted living, memory care, nursing home and licensed but privately-owned care homes of a metropolitan area, and then they rate all of the facilities based on the data that they monitor. We weren’t just given pictures and brochures of the facilities they had determined our parents might like, but we were presented with a notebook of information on their top choices for my parents (which included the data they used to determine the ratings), and we sat and discussed the options of each. Senior Care Authority set up the appointments with each of the facilities for us, and they attended the meetings with us--making sure to ask the questions that we had not even thought to ask. When we wanted to take our parents back to our top choices so they could have an opinion on the final choice, Senior Care Authority set up the follow-up appointments for us, too! They stayed in contact with us for every issue along the way (application, pricing negotiations, contract signing, etc.). They even gave us wonderful referrals to movers who specialize in the care and sensitivity involved in relocating senior citizens. Oh, and have I mentioned that Senior Care Authority does all of this at no cost to you? Their fees are paid by the facility you ultimately choose. Needless to say, my experience with Senior Care Authority was nothing short of fabulous, and coming from someone who has tried the other nationally-known service, I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for housing choices for senior citizens."
